Dr. Sessions was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He received his undergraduate degree from Centenary College of Louisiana in Shreveport, where he graduated magna cum laude and played Division I baseball.
After getting his undergraduate degree, he attended medical school at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. It was here that he received his post-graduate training in Orthopedic Surgery. After mentorship by Harold Stokes, MD, Dr. Sessions attended the prestigious Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery Fellowship with training in upper extremity orthopedic adult and pediatric surgery at the Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder Center.
Dr. Sessions’ desire is to provide the same specialized expertise for the Northshore of Louisiana as he did while practicing in Philadelphia. Named as a 2017, 2016, & 2013 Top Doctor by Main Line Today in the Philadelphia area, Dr. Sessions' interest is in specialized Hand to Shoulder Orthopedics for all ages. He routinely performs detailed evaluations, second opinions, and complex surgeries of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder on the Northshore of Louisiana.
After five years of practice in the Philadelphia area, he is excited to be back in Louisiana on the Northshore to be closer to family and friends, establishing the Louisiana Hand to Shoulder Center, LLC, in April 2018. The practice offers same-day and next-day appointments upon request.
Dr. Sessions currently resides in Covington with his wife and two sons. He is board-certified in both Orthopedics and Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery.
Why Dr. Sessions loves what he does
"I was inspired to become a physician by my uncle, Dr. J. Wayne Sessions, a general surgeon in North Louisiana. I went on to be mentored by a hand surgeon, Dr. Stokes, who taught me the values of caring for all upper extremity problems. I genuinely strive to treat all my patients as if they were family members or friends – with empathy, compassion, and concern for the best possible outcome. Very few people get to do a job they love. I am very blessed to help others in a profession I truly enjoy, appreciate, and love."
